Alex di Savoia
Advertising | Branding | Copywriting | Content Marketing | Marketing | PR | Social Media Marketing
Alex has made a career out of having fun with words and visual imagery. He cut his teeth on professional wordsmithery and the creative visualization in the hurly burly world of British fashion PR and fashion brand messaging. A world where conversations about brand campaigns could be as brutal as discussing bad hemlines, bad cuts and bad collections. He was blessed to be able to finely tune these skills in the equally intense world of British FMCG and Luxury advertising - designing and producing pitch concept presentations for the likes of Saatchi & Saatchi, M&C Saatchi and BatesDorland (when it was BatesDorland).
The juggernaut of international financial event management companies, Imagination (GIC) Ltd, lured him away from high concept advertising. As part of a team developing key brand messages for investment bankers and financial journalists around the globe, Imagination put the final spit and polish on his copywriting, marketing and branding skills.
Then the Internet happened. And that was it. Its (then) untapped power to deliver exceptional brand and integrated marketing experiences worldwide was just too enticing. And way too much fun. The music industry was the perfect forum to create innovative, meaningful brand messaging campaigns. The Internet was the perfect brand messaging medium - a medium Alex has thoroughly enjoyed since the late 90s. His crowning achievement? Some would say it was his quick appointment as Aardvark Record's CEO (which included the role of Director of Marketing). Alex would say it was creating a global music company brand that became people's mate - a company that spoke openly and honestly, one that you could have a laugh with...and a company that listened.
Alex has also enjoyed 10+ years of teaching integrated marketing at undergraduate and postgraduate level at Falmouth University, the UK's premier specialist Art, Design, Media, Performance & Writing university. He developed and delivering integrated marketing Career & Professional Development modules to companies and organizations in the creative industries, start-ups, local government agencies and the the not-for-profit sector. He's taught both on-campus as well as online, developing a number of popular online short courses while at Falmouth. He says it's been a privilege to teach students how to not only identify their USP - but to convey that effectively and professionally online.
He was also an integral part of launching Falmouth's MBA program and Career & Professional Development department.
For him, it was a buzz arming students with the most up-to-the-second, practical, integrated marketing knowledge - giving them the skills and the knowledge that employers have been screaming out for from university graduates.
He arrived in Boston in 2013, where he established the integrated marketing consultancy and free online education platform Social Media U (http://socialmediau.net).
