Applicants from the United States

  1. You must be at least 21 years of age by 1 September 2015 (scan of a valid drivers license or passport required);
  2. You must be a legal resident of the United States (scan of a valid drivers license or passport required) OR able to obtain the necessary visa or waiver to allow you to stay in the U.S for the duration of the program ( a clear scan of visa or waiver required);
  3. You will be a graduate from an accredited US university or have a high school diploma (transcript required);
  4. Due to the creative nature of the our program, applicants will be considered on individual merit;
  5. You must be able to submit a digital portfolio of your work (digital portfolio instruction details follow below).

Applicants from the United Kingdom (online course & workshops only)

  1. You must be at least 21 years of age by 1 September 2015 (scan of a valid drivers license or passport required);
  2. A typical offer is between 260 and 300 UCAS points, mainly from the A2 level or equivalent Level 3 qualifications or relevant experience (proof required);
  3. Due to the creative nature of the our program, applicants will be considered on individual merit;
  4. All applicants who meet the above criteria will be invited to an online or telephone interview - and an opportunity to present a portfolio of creative work at interview.

All other International applicants (online course & workshops only)

  1. You must be at least 21 years of age by 1 September 2015 (scan of a valid drivers license or passport required);
  2. You must have a university degree OR a baccalaureate (copy of transcript required);
  3. If English is not your first language, you will also be required to have an IELTS score of 6.0 points, or an equivalent English language test, completed within the last two years (copy of IELTS test score required with contact telephone number of testing facility for verification purposes);
  4. Due to the creative nature of the our program, applicants will be considered on individual merit;
  5. All applicants who meet the above criteria will be invited to an online or telephone interview - and an opportunity to present a portfolio of creative work at interview.

Portfolio Submission

Required Images

  • Please include the following photos (Digital images are preferred. But please also send good quality printouts of your images. And please include the SAME images in the printouts and on a CD, DVD or Adobe PDF document);
  • Two (2) recent photos of yourself: one full length shot and one close-up of your face;
  • A digital portfolio of your work (e.g. CD, DVD, online slideshow, Adobe pdf file, etc). Include as many of the following as apply):
    • photos of at least three but no more than ten of your completed designs (preferably shown on a model or dress form), marked
      with their dates of completion; include front, side, and back views; show a variety of looks for both day and evening if you have them;
    • images of detail work (e.g. beading, ruching, pleating, interesting seaming) that you have produced, if applicable;
    • Two (2) images of your patterns if you work from them; some should be for the outfits pictured;
    • images of your sketches.
  • You must staple a clear copy of your driverʼs license or other government issued ID (passport, state ID card, etc.) to the back of the packet.

Personal Video

You must include a 3 to 5 minute personal video clearly labeled "[Applicant's Name]-Home video", on DVD or as a media file with one of the following extensions: .mov, .mpv, .avi, .wmv, .dv. No other formats will be accepted.

Your video should consist of the following:

  • a personal introduction, telling us who you are and giving us an overview of your life;
  • a summary of your design goals and achievements;
  • why you need the Haute House University's courses to achieve your goals;
  • and anything else you think we need to know.

Relax, have fun, and let your personality shine through. Please remember that this is a short movie starring you; you should be in front of the camera talking to it, not acting as the director behind the scenes. You are not being judged on the professionalism of this video, but please double-check before sending it to us that

  1. we can hear you (i.e. the tape/camera had functional sound when you filmed); and
  2. we can see you (i.e. there was enough light while you were filming that we can see you clearly).
